The Scrapper's Helper: April 2012

This is an album that I did for our Thanksgiving celebration in 2011. My husband's parents are from California and they came for a visit. It was the first time that they have had their two sons all together for a holiday in years, so this was a special occasion. I actually made two of these albums and gave one to my mother-in-law as a gift. The paper I used was just a generic Thanksgiving/fall themed paper kit that I got from Oriental Trading Company. I used some fall Inkadinkado stamps, a couple eksuccess border punches, and various items from my stash.

Album Cover - Cricut cartridge "Thanksgiving." I used McGill blossom punches for the sunflowers and I used my 3-D paperpiecing technique on the pumpkin, cut from the Cricut cartridge, to give it dimension.

Below is a box album that I did last year. I got my inspiration from a perfume box that opened in the same way. I actually made two versions of this box, but I ended up scrapping the first one because I made the lid the same as the perfume box and I didn't like how it closed. So I redesigned the lid and came up with the one you see below. The Album is attached inside the box and starts from the center. Each side of the album has a family line, mine and my husband's. It was made using K and Company's Ancestry.com paper collection.

Album enclosure - I cut four strips of paper (2 for each side) for the enclosure and embosed and inked them to look like snake skin leather with faux stitching. I wedged a magnet in between the paper strips on each side and glued them together for each enclosure. The magnets inside the paper strips hold the album closed.
